Get ready for winter with a snowflake of your own! Worked from the top down in a stunning pattern that radiates from the center, it looks beautiful in a white or light colored yarn – although it would be gorgeous in a darker shade, as well!
Difficulty: Intermediate
Size: Small (19.25″), Medium (20″), Large (23″) Shown in medium.
Materials:
- Worsted Weight Yarn – 85-105 grams
- H/8 (5.0 mm size) crochet hook
Gauge: First 3 rounds = 2.25″, 11 sc = 4″
Special Stitches:
V-st: (dc, ch 3, dc), all in same stitch
Directions:
Ch 5, join with a sl st to form a circle.
Rnd 1: Ch 1; make 8 sc in the circle. Join with a sl st. (8 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1; make 2 sc in ea sc around, join with a sl st. (16 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 1; make 2 sc in the first sc, sc in next sc. *Make 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc. Rep from * 6 times more; join with a sl st to first sc. (24 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 6; dc in same stitch (counts as first V-st). *Sk next 2 sc, V-st in next sc. Rep from * 6 times more; join with a sl st to first dc. (8 V-st)
Rnd 5: Sl st into 1st V-st, ch 3 (counts as dc). Make 6 dc in same V-st sp. *Ch 2, make 7 dc in next V-st. Rep from * 6 times more, ch 2, join with a sl st to first dc. (56 dc and 8 ch-2 sp)
Rnd 6: Ch 1; sc in the same dc. Sc in the next 6 dc, ch 5. *Sc in next 7 dc, ch 5. Rep from * 6 times more, join with a sl st to first sc. (56 sc and 8 ch-5 sp)
Rnd 7: Sl st into 3rd sc, ch 1. Sc in the same sc and in each of the next 2 sc. *Ch 3, sk next 2 sc, V-st in next ch-5 sp, ch 3, sk next 2 sc, sc in the next 3 sc. Rep from * 6 times more. Ch 3, sk next 2 sc, V-st in next ch-5 sp, ch 3, sk next 2 sc, join with a sl st to 1st sc. (24 sc and 8 V-st)
Rnd 8: Sl st into next sc, ch 1, sc in the same sc, ch 3. Sk next sc, make 7 dc in the next V-st, ch 3, sk next sc. *Sc in next sc, ch 3, sk next sc, make 7 dc in next V-st, ch 3, sk next sc. Rep from * 6 times more, join with a sl st to 1st sc. (8 sc and 56 dc)
Rnd 9: Ch 6, dc in same stitch, ch 3. *Sc in next 7 dc, ch 3, V-st in next sc, ch 3. Rep from * 6 times more, sc in next 7 dc, ch 3, join with a sl st to 1st dc. (56 sc and 8 V-st)
Rnd 10: Sl st into first V-st, ch 3, 6 dc in first V-st. *Ch 3, sk next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc, ch 3, sk next 2 sc, make 7 dc in next V-st. Rep from * around 6 times more, ch 3, sk next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc, ch 3, sk last 2 sc, join with a sl st to first dc. (24 sc and 56 dc)
Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in the same dc, sc in next 6 dc. *Ch 3, sk next sc, sc in next sc, ch 3, sk next sc, sc in the next 7 dc. Rep from * 6 times more, ch 3, sk next sc, sc in next sc, ch 3, sk next sc. Join with a sl st to first sc. (64 sc and 16 ch-3 sp)
Rnd 12: Sl st in 3rd sc, ch 1, sc in the same sc and in the next 2 sc. *Ch 3, sk next 2 sc, V-st in next sc, sk next 2 sc, ch 3, sc in the next 3 sc. Rep from * 6 times more, join with a sl st to first sc. (24 sc and 8 V-st)
Rnd 13: Sl st in the next sc, ch 6, dc in same stitch. *Ch 3, sk next sc, make 7 dc in next V-st, ch 3, sk next sc, V-st in next sc. Rep from * 6 times more, ch 3, make 7 dc in next V-st, ch 3, join with a sl st to first dc. (56 dc and 8 V-st)
Rnd 14: Sl st into first V-st, ch 3, make 8 dc in same V-st. *Ch 3, sk next 3 dc, V-st in next dc, ch 3, sk next 3 dc, make 9 dc in next V-st. Rep from * 6 times more, ch 3, sk next 3 dc, V-st in next dc, ch 3, sk last 3 dc, join with a sl st to first dc. (72 dc and 8 V-st)
Rnd 15: Sl st into 5th dc; ch 6, dc in same dc, sk next 4 dc. *Ch 3, make 9 dc in next V-st, ch 3, sk next 4 dc, V-st in next dc, sk next 4 dc. Rep from * 6 times more, ch 3, make 9 dc in next V-st, ch 3, sk last 4 dc, join with a sl st to 1st dc. (72 dc and 8 V-st)
Rnd 16: Sl st into first V-st, ch 6. *Dc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sk next 4 dc, hdc in next dc, ch 3, sk next 4 dc, dc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, dc in next V-st, ch 3. Rep from * 6 times more, dc in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sk next 4 dc, hdc in next dc, ch 3, sk next 4 dc, join with a sl st to first dc. (32 ch-3 sp)
Rnd 17: Ch 1, sc in same stitch, sc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next dc. *Sc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next hdc, (sc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next dc) 3 times. Rep from * 6 times more, sc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next hdc, sc in next ch-3 sp, sc in next dc, sc in next ch-3 sp, join with a sl st to first sc. (64 sc)
For size Small only:
Rnd 18: Ch 1, * sc2tog over next 2 sc, sc in next 4 sc. Rep from * 6 times more, sc2tog, sc in last 2 sc, join with a sl st to first sc. (53 sc)
Rnd 19: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with a sl st to first sc. (53 sc)
Rnd 20: Ch 1, reverse sc around, join with a sl st to first sc.
For size Medium only:
Rnd 18: Ch 1, * sc in next 6 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc. Rep from * 7 times more, join with a sl st to first sc. (56 sc)
Rnds 19-20: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with a sl st to first sc. (56 sc)
Rnd 21: Ch 1, reverse sc around, join with a sl st to first sc.
For size Large only:
Rnds 18-20: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join with a sl st to first sc. (64 sc)
Rnd 21: Ch 1, reverse sc around, join with a sl st to first sc.
End off. Weave in ends and wear with pride!
