Oh…that baby shower…is tonight? You don’t have to admit defeat! This simple little vest lets the yarn do the heavy lifting and lets you focus on crocheting – fast! This took 2 hours from the first chain to the last button (and I wasn’t even late to the party…)
Difficulty: Easy
Size: One Size – 0-3 months
Finished Measurements: Chest Circumference – 16″
Materials:
- Bernat Baby Jacquards [90% Acrylic, 10% Nylon, 346yds/316m per 100g/3.5oz skein]; less than one skein, color: I’m a Big Boy
- H/8 (5.00mm size) hook
- 2 – 1/2″ buttons
- Yarn Needle
Gauge: 14sts/7.5 rows = 4″/10cm in dc
Directions:
Front
Row 1: Ch 30. Skip 2 ch, dc in each ch across. (28 dc) Turn.
Rows 2-13: Ch 2 (counts as dc), dc in each st across. (28 dc) Turn.
Finish off.
Back
Row 1: Ch 30. Skip 2 ch, dc in each ch across. (28 dc) Turn.
Rows 2-16: Ch 2 (counts as dc), dc in each st across. (28 dc) Turn.

Shoulders (make 2)
Row 1: Ch 10. Skip 2 ch, dc in each ch across. (8 dc) Turn.
Rows 2-4: Ch 2 (counts as dc), dc across. (8 dc) Turn.
Buttonhole: Turn work 90 degrees. Ch 3, sl st in edge where Row 4 meets Row 3. Finish off.
Finishing:
- Align Front and Back; whipstitch together the bottom 10 rows.
- Rotate Shoulders (so rows run up and down and buttonholes are at back, towards the neck edge) and sew to Front.
- Sew the outside 2 rows of Shoulders to Back, leaving the buttonhole and a little past it free to open.
- Sew buttons to top of Back, matching them up to the buttonholes.
- Weave in all ends.
