V stitches and shells come together again to create something warm and cozy for the oncoming cool weather. The Firecracker shawl can be made large or small, in thick yarn or fine, to whatever size you like, but however you make it, you’re sure to love it!

Difficulty: Intermediate

Size: As shown, 40″ across by 14″ deep

Materials:

  • Morning Bright Yarns Holistic Merino DK [100% certified Australian NewMerino® wool; 240 yd per 100 g skein]; color: Pink Grapefruit; 1 skein
  • H/8 (5.00 mm size) crochet hook
  • Yarn Needle

Gauge: 1 shell and 1 V stitch =3”

NOTE: Though this shawl is crocheted in a DK weight yarn, it’s easy to make this shawl any size! Use appropriate sized hook to go with your yarn, and crochet as many rows as desired. If you are looking to make a full sized shawl (as compared to the shawlette seen here), I recommend starting the beginning with more chains. Pattern is a multiple of 10 plus 5.

Special Stitches:
V-st(s): V-stitch(es), made as follows: (dc, ch 1, dc), all in same ch-sp

Shell: 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc (all in same ch-sp)

  1. Such a lovely shawl. I have arthritis as a “constant dance partner”, and as such I am always affected by the sensation of cold. I love shawls they keep me warm, yet are a wonderful fashion statement. I have a grand collection of them. I also participate in a prayer shawl ministry. This little beauty just may be a make one to give, make one to keep. Thank you!
