Oh, how I love fall. I love the changing leaves. I love pumpkin and cinnamon. Most of all, I love the crisp bite on the air as it catches the first hint of the chill to come.

This is a hat perfect for the beginnings of brisk weather when all you need is a little bit of something to keep you warmer – because we all want to get into our warm woolly hats as soon as possible, don’t we?

Difficulty: Easy

Size: Adult (loose fit)

Finished Measurements: 24″ around

Materials:

  • Filatura di Crosa Zara Plus [100% Wool, 77yds/70m per 50g/1.75oz skein]; 1 skein ***
  • L/11 (8.00mm size) hook
  • Needle

Gauge: 10sts/5.5 rows = 4″/10cm in dc

Directions:

Rnd 1: Ch 3. Make 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook; join.

Rnd 2: Ch 2. Dc inc in each st around. (24 dc) Join.

Rnd 3: Ch 2. [Dc inc, dc in next st] around. (36 dc) Join.

Rnd 4: Ch 2. [Dc in each of the next 3 sts, ch 1] around. (48 sts) Join.

Rnd 5: Ch 2. Dc in each of the first 2 dc, ch 2. Skip 1 dc and 1 ch. *Dc in each of the next 2 dc, ch 2, sk 1 dc and 1 ch. Repeat from * around, join.

Rnd 6: Ch 2. Dc in each of the first 2 dc, ch 2, sk ch-2. *Dc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 2, sk ch-2. Repeat from * around, join rnd.

Rnd 7: Ch 2. Dc in each of the first 2 dc, ch 3, sk ch-2. *Dc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 3, sk ch-2. Repeat from * around. Join.

Rnds 8-9: Ch 2, dc in each of the first 2 dc. Ch 3, sk ch-3. *Dc in each of the next 2 sts, ch 3, sk ch-3. Repeat from * around. Join.

Rnd 10: Ch 2. Dc in each of the first 2 dc, place 3 dc in ch-3 space. *Dc in each of the next 2 dc, place 3 dc in ch-3 space. Repeat from * around. (60 dc)

Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Finish off.

Finishing: Weave in all ends.
