Did you know crafts and hobbies are a thirty billion dollar industry in the United States? Crocheting alone accounts for about $1 billion of that. Here are some more facts you may not know about our favorite yarny pastime!

While looking through a vintage magazine, I came across a cute little lace motif that reminded me of leaves. Rather than using a magnifying glass and trying to re-create the leaves, I chose to grab a hook and just wing it from memory.

The word ‘cashmere’ has long been synonymous with incredible luxury – and expense. In recent years, however, the price for this high-end fiber has plummeted, to the point that you can stroll into your local craft store and pick up a skein with ‘cashmere’ on the label for less than the cost of a skein of glittery novelty yarn.

This lightweight scarf allows for year-round hipster cred without added bulk. It’s great for outdoor concerts, strolls in the park, or even reading in your favorite coffee shop.

‘Tis the season for working in the garden! But just in case you don’t want your seed packets to get all muddy or go back to the house for the twine (again) here’s a simple little apron with big pockets and a vegetable garden kick that would make a great gift for your favorite gardener.
